Ssh…we’re raising money!

This Thursday I had the pleasure of attending the Children’s Museum of the Low-country’s annual silent auction fundraiser. This year the bus shed was transformed into a Brazilian block party complete with band and dancers. Proceeds from the fundraiser go to supporting scholarships, museum admissions, educational day-camps and programming to underserved and special needs children and their families.  This was my first silent auction and what fascinated me the most was the fact that I couldn’t tell who was bidding. I saw an topaz ring, a getaway for four and other items of interest get auctioned off and I swear I couldn’t point out who was bidding on what until the very end.

After the bidding was done and the prizes divvied up it was time to enjoy the sounds of Malandro Soul. The Brazilian’s music and dancing were as intoxicating as the wine being served by minus the hangover. I had a chance to join in the action between shots, actually, my arm was twisted and I was forced to dance with the beauties by a man who I initially thought was me for like like five minutes.  What splendid torture. The event was a colorful success.
